Celebrate Easter the Healthy Way

Easter is almost here, and it’s a time for fun with family and friends. But did you know you can also make it a healthy celebration? As a public health nonprofit working to increase health access in Texas, we’ve got some easy tips to help you have a fantastic and healthy Easter.

  1. Opt for Nutritious Easter Treats: Easter often brings to mind images of candy-filled baskets and sugary treats. While indulging in moderation is okay, it’s important to balance those sweets with nutritious options. Consider adding a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to your Easter menu. Get creative with colorful fruit platters, veggie trays, and whole grain crackers with hummus.
  2. Stay Active with Easter-themed Activities: Instead of solely focusing on food-focused activities, incorporate physical activity into your Easter celebration. Organize an Easter egg hunt in your backyard or local park, encouraging friends and family to move around and engage in some light exercise. You can also plan Easter-themed games like egg races, bunny hops, or a scavenger hunt. Physical activity not only burns calories but also boosts mood and energy levels.
  3.  Mindful Eating During Easter Meals: Practice mindful eating by paying attention to your body’s hunger cues. Fill your plate with a balance of proteins, whole grains, and plenty of vegetables. Take your time to savor each bite, enjoying the flavors and textures of your meal. Avoid going back for seconds immediately; instead, give yourself time to digest before having an additional serving.
